Abstract Cultivar BRS A706 CL is a new rice cultivar, resistant to herbicides of the chemical group of imidazolinones, with a yield potential of 15,635 kg ha-1. It has intermediate maturation, lodging tolerance, the stay green trait, moderate rice blast resistance, a high milling yield and premium grain quality.

Abstract BRS A502 is an upland rice cultivar with a medium cycle, high resistance to lodging, superior yield potential and grains of excellent industrial and cooking quality. The cultivar is indicated for crop rotation and succession in areas under intensive agriculture in the main field crop regions of Brazil.

RESUMOA produtividade de grãos do arroz é resultante da interação entre o ambiente e o cultivar utilizado. Entre os fatores que influenciam essa produtividade estão o arranjo das plantas no campo e a adubação nitrogenada. O objetivo deste trabalho foi determinar os efeitos do espaçamento entre fileiras e da adubação nitrogenada na altura e acamamento de plantas, nos componentes de produção e produtividade e na qualidade industrial de grãos de arroz de terras altas, cultivado no sistema plantio direto. O experimento foi desenvolvido durante a safra agrícola 2010/2011, em condições de campo, no município de Selvíria, MS. O delineamento experimental foi em blocos completos casualizados, no esquema fatorial 2 x 4, com quatro repetições. Os tratamentos constaram de combinações entre os espaçamentos entre fileiras (0,35 e 0,50 m) e as doses de N aplicadas na semeadura (0, 40, 80 e 120 kg ha-1). O menor espaçamento entre fileiras condicionou menor altura de plantas de arroz, maior número de panículas m-2, maior fertilidade das espiguetas e consequentemente maior produtividade de grãos de arroz. O incremento das doses de N na semeadura proporcionou maior altura e acamamento de plantas de arroz, ocasionando redução da produtividade e da massa hectolítrica de grãos da cultura. Espaçamento entre fileiras e nitrogênio não alteram a qualidade de grãos do arroz.

ABSTRACTRice grain yield is the result of the interaction between the environment and cultivar. Among the factors that influence this productivity is the arrangement of plants in the field and nitrogen fertilizer. The objective of the study was to determine the effect of row spacing and nitrogen fertilization on plant height and lodging, yield components, grain yield and quality of upland rice crop grown in a no-tillage system. The experiment was conducted during the growing season 2010/2011 under field conditions in Selvíria, MS, Brazil. The experimental design was a randomized complete block design in a factorial 2 x 4 with four replications. The treatments consisted of the combination of row spacing (0.35 and 0.50 m) with the N rates applied at sowing (0, 40, 80 and 120 kg ha-1). The lower row spacing provided less height of rice plants, higher number of panicles m-2and spikelet fertility and consequently higher grain yield of rice. The increased rates of N in the sowing provided greater height and lodging of rice plants leading to reduced crop productivity and hectoliter mass of grains. Row spacing and nitrogen do not affect grain quality of rice.

RESUMO Este trabalho teve como objetivo estudar a flutuação populacional de espécies da ordem Coleoptera em plantio de Eucalyptus urophylla no município de Almerin, estado do Pará. Esses insetos foram coletados com armadilhas luminosas durante uma noite, a cada quinze dias, de setembro de 1995 a agosto de 1996 com os exemplares identificados de acordo com coleções entomológicas e com a literatura especializada, e divididos em grupos identificados em nível de espécie (INE) ou de família (INF). Foram coletados 132 espécies da ordem Coleoptera, sendo 23 identificadas por espécie e 109 por família, com 2972 e 7187 indivíduos respectivamente. As espécies mais abundantes foram Anomala sp.1, Leucothireus sp. (Scarabaeidae) e Ciclocephala lamminata (Dynastidae) com 93,4% dos indivíduos do primeiro grupo. Carabidae apresentou o maior número de indivíduos (6411) e de espécies (31) dos insetos identificados por família. Todas as coletas apresentaram indivíduos da ordem Coleoptera, com maior número de exemplares dessa ordem em janeiro de 1996.

ABSTRACT The objective of this research was to study population fluctuation of Coleoptera species in a Eucalyptus urophylla plantation in the Municipality of Almerin, State of Para, Brazil. Insects were collected with light traps during one night every fifteen days from September 1995 to August 1996. They were identified based on entomological collections and specialized literature and divided in groups identified at species (INE) or family levels (INF). A total of 132 species of the Coleoptera order was collected, being 23 identified at species and 109 at family levels with 2.972 and 7,187 individuals, respectively. Anomala sp.1, Leucothireus sp. (Scarabaeidae) and Ciclocephala lamminata (Dynastidae) were the most abundant ones with 93.4% of individuals of the first group. Carabidae presented the highest number of individuals (6411) and species (31) for those insects identified at family level. Individuals of Coleoptera were trapped in all collections but with largest number of individuals of this order in January 1996.
